Learning Landscapes for Organisational Wellbeing – Learning Inside Out

“Learning Inside Out” is an Erasmus+ cooperation project bringing together organisations from Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Spain. The project aims to develop the partner organisations into inclusive and wellbeing-supportive learning landscapes that integrate staff wellbeing, nature-based learning, environmental responsibility and community participation.

The project approaches learning as something broader than activities taking place in a classroom or during a formal training course. A learning landscape includes an organisation’s physical spaces, natural surroundings, leadership culture, relationships and everyday working practices. The project explores how these different elements can support the wellbeing of staff, educators, learners and community members while promoting lifelong and life-wide learning.

The project is coordinated by the Tartu Environmental Education Centre (Tartu Nature House) in Estonia.

The project partners are:

  • Pääkaupunkiseudun Kierrätyskeskus / Environmental School Polku – Finland;
  • Norrtälje Naturcentrum – Sweden;
  • RE Innovasjon – Norway;
  • Promesas – Spain.

The project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme with a total grant of €400,000. It runs from 1 September 2026 to 30 August 2028.

Project number: 2026-1-EE01-KA220-ADU-000464243

Project objective

The objective of “Learning Inside Out” is to strengthen adult learning and community education organisations as inclusive learning landscapes that support organisational wellbeing.

The project seeks to:

  • develop leadership and working practices that support staff wellbeing;
  • integrate nature-based learning into the everyday work of participating organisations;
  • create indoor and outdoor environments that support learning and wellbeing;
  • strengthen the competences of adult educators, teachers, facilitators and organisational leaders;
  • promote environmental responsibility and community participation;
  • share approaches developed and tested in different countries at the European level.

Planned activities

During the project, the partners will:

  • conduct organisational wellbeing audits and identify the needs of staff and organisations;
  • analyse and compare organisational wellbeing practices in five European countries;
  • co-create a practical leadership and organisational wellbeing toolkit with external experts;
  • design and pilot five organisation-based learning landscapes;
  • develop nature-based learning environments, outdoor wellbeing trails, and spaces supporting creativity, crafts and reuse;
  • organise training activities for adult educators, teachers, facilitators, scout leaders and other community practitioners;
  • conduct community workshops and public events;
  • organise four transnational learning mobilities through which the partners will exchange and test practices;
  • produce practical guidelines, learning materials and a multilingual digital toolkit;
  • communicate project experiences through storytelling, campaigns, public events and a final European webinar.

Expected results

As a result of the project:

  • partner organisations will be better able to assess and support staff wellbeing;
  • a practical organisational wellbeing and leadership toolkit will be produced;
  • five learning landscapes responding to local organisational and community needs will be created;
  • educators, facilitators and organisational leaders will improve their ability to combine wellbeing, nature-based learning and sustainability;
  • staff members, learners and local communities will participate more actively in shaping organisations and learning environments;
  • practical models will become available for other adult learning, environmental education and community organisations across Europe.

The project results will be shared through partner networks, public events and online communication channels. At the end of the project, a European webinar will present the learning landscapes, the organisational wellbeing toolkit and the most valuable practices developed by the partner organisations.
